Fruit vendor stabbed to death by four friends

A 27-year-old fruit vendor was stabbed to death, allegedly by his four friends, at Jheel Khureji near Krishna Nagar in east Delhi on Sunday night. New Delhi: The home ministry’s ‘unified NCR’ approach for fighting Covid-19 seems to be paying off with Delhi, for perhaps the first time, not figuring in the danger zone of any of the key coronavirus watch lists. In the week June 27-July 3, not one of Delhi’s 11 districts was among the top 15 in the list of districts registering a positivity rate of above 20%. The only district in Delhi’s vicinity on the list is Faridabad with a 23.9% positive rate as on July 3. Delhi’s positive rate is now 13.6%, still a notch above the 9.1% national average. A suspected thief was allegedly beaten to death by a mob that caught him sneaking into a house in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar, police said on Thursday. The man was identified as Salman (23), a resident of Loni in Ghaziabad, they said, adding he had fled from his house with his friend Deepak. According to police, the incident took place on June 9 around 4 am when Salman and another man tried to stealthily enter a house in Block C of Pandav Nagar area. The number of Covid-19 containment zones in the national capital rose to 55 on Tuesday, with southeast Delhi having 12 such zones. There were 43 Covid-19 hotspots in the city on Sunday.
